News Item Image

Virginia Wing relocated aircraft yesterday from outside ramps to inside hangars in advance of potential damaging weather related to Tropical Storm Elsa. In addition, the wing transitioned to a “WARNING” emergency services alert status. The wing Director of Emergency Services, Lt. Col. Josh Shields, encouraged the entire wing to review their personal preparedness and mission readiness posture for the coming storm and the upcoming storm season. In the past, the wing has supported state and federal agencies with aerial photography of key landmarks before and after storms, provided manpower at points-of-distribution, assisted with search and rescue efforts, and more. Col. Elizabeth Sydow, the wing’s Commander, shared, “The Virginia Wing is postured well to support any requests within or outside of our state. I am proud of our dedicated members who quickly respond to the call and support our communities, state, and nation.”
