2022 Civil Air Patrol Aerospace Education Teacher of the Year
Congratulations to Lieutenant Colonel Dennis Borgerding, Group 2 Commander, for being selected by National Headquarters as the 2022 Civil Air Patrol Aerospace Education (AE) Teacher of the Year!
Lt Col Borgerding is a history teacher at Old Donation School in Virginia Beach. He uses AE in multiple ways to enrich the teaching of history as well as supplementing the entire school’s Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) content.
His principal recognizes him as the #1 resource across all grades in geography, aeronautics, and visual arts. In 2017, he established an after-school AE program with Virginia Wing members providing program leadership.
One example of his creative integration of AE is a visual art competition where students created aerial views of their city based on airborne photos.
