The Civil Air Patrol’s Virginia Wing flew 15 hours providing imagery of key areas for multiple agencies in response to Hurricane Isaias. 

Virginia Wing hosted their annual conference this past Saturday, Aug. 8, this time in a whole new fashion. For the first time in history, it was virtual. 

Civil Air Patrol’s (CAP) Virginia Wing assisted North Carolina Wing CAP members in running a Point of Distribution center, supplying North Carolina residents with essential materials following the wake of Hurricane Isaias.

At the end of July after a highly successful four-year tour, Lt Col Daniel Ciesla relinquished command of Virginia Wing’s Legislative Squadron (VA-999) and Maj Daniel “Bud” Oakey accepted command at Virginia Wing Headquarters.

Civil Air Patrol’s Virginia Wing (CAP) 2,000 members actively engaged in a multi-faceted virtual challenge which resulted in increased participation and camaraderie across the state during their meeting and activity stand-down due to COVID-19.   

  Civil Air Patrol’s Virginia Wing responded to a request to support the Virginia National Guard by transporting COVID-19 tests to and from Virginia’s Eastern Shore.  

Civil Air Patrol’s (CAP) Virginia Wing successfully completed a search for an aviation Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT) near Suffolk, Virginia.

The National Park Service staff welcomed volunteers from various organizations early Saturday morning, September 21st, in support of the 2018 National Public Lands Day at Prince William Forest Park near Triangle, VA. Among the many volunteers, six members of Prince William Composite Squadron led by 1st. Lt. Sara Demyanovich and 2d. Lt. Kari Pewett were assigned to splitting wood with hydraulic wood splitters. The three-hour shift culminated in a pizza lunch with Park Rangers and Staff. Special thanks to those who supported this annual event. To the Stars, Prince William!

Prince William Composite squadron earns the Quality Cadet Unit Award for the sixth year in a row, beginning in 2013.

TRIANGLE, VA -  Civil Air Patrol (CAP) members of Virginia Wing, Group Three, rallied for emergency services ground team training last weekend beginning on Friday, September 7, 2018, at Prince William Forest Park near Triangle, VA, on the eve of Tropical Storm Florence. Each year, Group Three hosts an annual training “bivouac" (Army term for camping under the open skies) during the month of September to acquire or refresh skills, broaden capabilities, and quicken response time to emergency search and rescue requests issued by the Air Force Rescue Coordination Center (AFRCC) and the Department of Emergency Management (VDEM) of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
