(Apr 22, 2024) – Over 60 Civil Air Patrol (CAP) cadets from the Winchester Composite Squadron visited Shenandoah University’s Shenandoah Center for Immersive Learning (SCiL) this past week and had a full evening of engaging with immersive technology and inspiration towards future careers.
Cadet Colonel Rachel Sherrod has recently earned Civil Air Patrol’s highest cadet achievement, the General Carl A. Spaatz Award, recipient #2513, and the 88th cadet to receive this award in Virginia Wing since its inception.

Known internally as “State Legislative Day,” this was the fourth consecutive year the wing has brought members from across the state to visit the capital.

WINCHESTER, Va. (October 28, 2023) – Cadet Chief Master Sergeant Noah Keller, a member of Civil Air Patrol’s (CAP) Winchester Composite Squadron, flew his solo flight earlier this month at Winchester Regional Airport.
Congratulations to the William P. Knight Composite Squadron for winning the Documentary Video category of the CAP High Altitude Balloon Challenge. Follow this link to see their winning video. Civil Air Patrol’s Winchester Composite Squadron celebrated its new membership with the Top of Virginia Regional Chamber with a ribbon cutting on Tuesday, October 17th at their hangar at Winchester Regional Airport (459 Bufflick Road, Winchester, VA 22602).
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. (Sep 20, 2023) – Forty-eight Civil Air Patrol (CAP) and Air Force JROTC members flew on a Boeing C-17 Globemaster III aircraft courtesy of the 167th Airlift Wing, West Virginia Air National Guard on September 14, 2023. The Civil Air Patrol members were from Winchester & Leesburg Composite Squadrons and the Air Force JROTC cadets were from Berkeley County Public Schools, West Virginia unit WV-071.
