Congratulations to the 8 squadrons from Virginia Wing that participated in the High Altitude Balloon Challenge. 

FEMA requested Civil Air Patrol’s assistance in a crowdsourcing role to view images of the area and provide preliminary damage assessments in response to Hurricane Ida that hit Louisiana.

Congratulations to these members of Virginia Wing who were recognized by Maj. Gen. Smith for their service with National Headquarters.

Cadet Colonel Kathryn Homa, a member of the Virginia Wing’s Leesburg Composite Squadron, has earned the highest achievement a Civil Air Patrol cadet can attain, the Gen. Carl A. Spaatz Award. Only one-half a percent of all cadets in the CAP’s program earn this honor.

Col. Liz Sydow, Virginia Wing Commander, announced the Virginia Civil Air Patrol units who earned the 2021 Quality Cadet Unit Award. 

Congratulations to the cadets who completed a milestone award and senior members who promoted or completed a professional level award in July.

More than 50 members of the Civil Air Patrol’s Virginia Wing will gather in Hot Springs this weekend to conduct training in multiple specialties including urban direction finding, aerial photography, aircrew training, mountain flying, flight line operations, basic ground search and rescue, unmanned aerial system operations, mission base operations, and more. 

The Civil Air Patrol’s (CAP) Virginia Wing was selected as the 2021 Mid-Atlantic Region recipients of both the Aerospace Education and Disaster Relief Mission Awards.
